Frequently Asked Questions

What type of lithium-ion cells are used in the Bronson MB battery?

The Bronson MB series uses 18650 NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) lithium-ion cells.
This type of cells were selected for its excellent charge and discharge capabilities and high energy density which decreases its weight.

How long will a Bronson MB battery last?

Our cells are rated to retain 80% or more of their original usable capacity for their first 500 full 100% discharge cycles, with many more cycles if the discharges are less than 100%.
The cell chemistry used is highly stable and can be expected to exceed a lifespan of 10 years.

How does the Bronson MB battery perform in extreme temperatures?

Like any batteries, the performance will be reduced in extreme hot and cold conditions. We have set specific thresholds for over and under temperature cutoffs – both for charging and discharging – so that the batteries will support a wide range of climate conditions but will shut off before the temperature becomes unsafe or potentially harmful to the battery cells.

The operating temperature for using the battery while discharging is between -20 ºC and 75 ºC, and while charging the battery is between 0 ºC and 45 ºC – outside of these ranges the battery will automatically shut off for safety. Ideally, the operating temperature should be maintained in a mild temperature range between 5 and 25 ºC.

How should the Bronson MB battery be stored when not in use?

Unlike lead acid batteries, the lithium-ion MB batteries are not overly affected by hot or cold conditions. However, if the battery will be unused for periods longer than 3 months, the best conditions to store it will be to leave it at a charge level between 30%-70% and in a “room temperature” storage.
These lithium cells will tolerate long periods of non-use without needing to be cycled or float charged like a lead acid battery would.

Are the connectors waterproof as well?

The push-in connectors are made out of waterproof material (IP67) and can be in contact with water, even though it’s not recommended to subject them to prolonged submersion.

Can the Bronson MB battery be used in all types of water?

The Bronson MB battery can be used in any type of water, regardless of whether it is fresh or saltwater. We recommend washing the battery after the usage, especially if it got in contact with salted water.
